The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Chinatown YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who, under the supervision of the Senior Youth and Family Director, will be responsible for the management of the Compass program at PS 126. This includes the overall development, administration, supervision and evaluation of the Compass program. The Program Director will focus on maintaining a quality program while raising additional funds to expand to meet the needs of the community. 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continue to improve the quality of all Youth and Family programs.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise all Compass program staff, in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for grant writing to secure program funding (including government contracts, foundation and corporate grants).
  • Ensure all contract requirements are met.
  • Plan and create new and innovative Youth and Family programs that meet the needs of the community in keeping with the Branch priority objectives and strategic plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the branch staff to develop new programs.
  • Attend to all Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and Department of Health (DOH) trainings.
  • Develop and grow community partnerships.
  • Create and track a resource referral system for youth and families.
  • Represent the Branch at cabinets meetings.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in social work, education, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience supervising community-based youth programs.
  • Knowledge of development and administration of youth programs, AS400 and Compass databases, staff supervision, effective budget management and developing and sustaining community partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong hospitality skills.
