We are seeking an Education Director to join our team at United Bronx Parents Day Care on Clay Avenue in the Bronx! Under the supervision of the Administrator, Education Director oversees and directs the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children. Strong preference for Bilingual Spanish/English candidates. 

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitoring the implementation of ACS creative curricula in the classroom
  • Supervising all classroom practices - room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies
  • Carrying out recommendations of the NYC-ACS education manager for program improvement
  • Supervising children's assessments, including weekly observations in each area, examples of the child's work, developmental assessments, and children's assessment data entry and outcome reports.
  • Overseeing the success of home visits and parent conferences as per ACS Early Learn requirements.
  • Monitoring child's individual development and progress, assisting the parents in developing observational skills and soliciting parent observations.
  • Leading responsibility for parent involvement in education services.
  • Coordinate the transition of children to Kindergarten, and assist with the children's transition to their next destination at the end of the season.
  • Assisting individual staff members in identifying their training needs, and improving their knowledge and abilities.
  • Participate in the development of I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) or I.F.S.P.'s (Individual Family Service Plan).
  • Complete and submit required reports to the VP, PDI and ACS.
  • Evaluate the performance of teaching staff, at the end of probation and annually thereafter, and recommend subsequent personnel action to director.

Qualifications:

  • NYS Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2, Preschool) required
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education required
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience in education
  • Knowledge of ACS, DOE, Head Start, and DOH regulations.
  • Have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start (or comparable child development programs), early childhood education, developmentally appropriate practice, and bilingual education;
  • Preferred Spanish-speaking;
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with parents and with the community.
